I think that will become far more relevant moving forward and some apps such as iNavX already support receiving N2k data over IP.28Daytonahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17249534618434153832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9190270992063734806.post-41149210535236229162015-11-12T05:30:30.698-08:002015-11-12T05:30:30.698-08:00Thanks for the info Meindert. I thought I remembered seeing Steve Spitzer's name against this, but having checked again I see that it's your name against the registration (from 2009):
https://www.iana.org/assignments/service-names-port-numbers/service-names-port-numbers.txt
Good call on the standardisation: it was much needed.Stripydoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14795469578141188553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9190270992063734806.post-33570273135759285362015-11-10T11:29:34.536-08:002015-11-10T11:29:34.536-08:00Very good article. When my company first introduced the MiniPlex-2E multiplexer with Ethernet interface, I saw random port numbers being used for this. I felt there should be some sort of standardization so I wrote to IANA and explained the need for a defined and published port number for NMEA 0183. I actually tried to register port number 183 but they assigned 10110.

Meindert Sprang
ShipModulAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
